2020 WINTER / SPRING EXHIBIT: SOUTH OF MAIN, OPENS JANUARY 24 THROUGH MAY 18, 2020.  Our next show will use historical photos, maps and artifacts to tell the story of that part of downtown Mendocino located on the south side of Main Street. Once a coastal prairie, then a bustling rail and lumberyard ringed by stores and houses, it is now devoid of buildings and known as the Mendocino Headlands State Park. Holiday Walking Tours Every Day!

We’ve lined up 12 straight days of walking tours from Dec. 21st though Jan 1st so you and your friends will have ample opportunity to join our expert docents at the Kelley House for a stroll through the downtown historic district. Once you’ve learned more about the unique history of this place, your perceptions will forever be changed. Visitors and residents alike will appreciate the informational exercise. $10 per person. Tours are from 11:00 to 1:00, rain or shine.

Candlelit Shopping Tour and Scotch-Tasting Event, Dec. 14th 4-7pm

Saturday December 14 with other local merchants to create a welcoming Second Saturday candlelit shopping experience in downtown Mendo. Come by the Kelley House between 5:00 and 7:00 and warm up with a drink! It’s a relaxing way to mingle with other lovers of fine Scotch, while supporting a worthy organization. Exhibit: Historic Dolls & Teddy Bears, Nov 29-Jan 6, 2020

Historic Dolls & Teddy Bears Making a Holiday Visit to Kelley House Museum. Nautical Collection at Kelley House

A new exhibit showcasing the nautical collection of coast resident Norman de Vall will open at the Kelley House Museum in Mendocino. Through November 11, you can see antique coastal charts dating back to the 1700’s, sextants old and new, a large brass compass from a sailing ship, taffrail logs that were pulled behind the ship to calculate its speed, a caulking mallet and irons, and other navigational implements needed to travel upon the seas in the age of sail. learn more…

            WITH JUST ONE and a half staff positions, the Kelley House could not exist without its valued volunteers. Sunday, May 26 Mendocino’s Historic Rose Walk with David Tahja 11 AM

Enjoy this exclusive guided tour of the historic roses in the town of Mendocino. Roses were a particular passion of Daisy Kelley MacCallum, eldest daughter of pioneers William and Eliza Kelley, and many of the roses she planted throughout Mendocino still bloom. Reservations are suggested for this special tour, led by docent David Tahja. Advance tickets are available at the Kelley House Museum and office for $10.
