BLACK AND WHITE PHOTO OF WOMEN READING NEWSPAPER

Opening Reception Honoring Local Businesswomen

Raise a glass to some of the local businesswomen who work so valiantly to keep you fed, clothed, well-read, and entertained! We’re celebrating their role in our community as a way to kick off the winter exhibit “A Woman’s Place Was Everywhere: How Working Women Shaped Mendocino.” Through diaries, photos, and oral histories, this exhibit tells the lesser-known stories of entrepreneurs, nurses, artists, teachers, madams, and philanthropists who laid the foundation for the Mendocino we know today. Discover how their creativity, resilience, and hard work—both paid and unpaid—shaped the legacy of the Mendocino Coast in ways history books often overlook. Nominate your own local heroine, past or present, during your visit. Bring a photo if you have one. Exhibit runs through March 29, 2026.

Admission is free but kindly RSVP below.

Wine generously donated by Handley Cellars, in honor of founder and pioneering female vintner, Milla Handley.
